Four years later, during his senior year at Marquette University Dental
School, he spotted a building on Hartbrook Drive
under construction. With no money, lots of school debt, and a supportive
family, he opened a small, and we mean small, practice at
510 Hartbrook Drive in June of 1979, two weeks after
graduation. Even in the recession the practice thrived.Today the practice is still at that address, but 4 times larger. Dr.
Lemke has 5 full-time and two part-time employees that make his Dental
All Star Team. He credits his staff and divine blessing for all the good
fortune that he has enjoyed.
In 1981 he had been invited to a friends wedding in Canada and briefly
met the lady who would one day be his wife. Her name was Christina, and
after writing each other for a year they decided to get serious and were
wed in the New Apostolic Church in her hometown of Kitchener, Ontario,
Canada in December 1982. They now have 3 sons, born in 1985,1990,1995.
(That's right, none in 2000)
The New Apostolic Faith was their common thread in their lives and is
still today. Both Grant and Christina are active in volunteering their
time and efforts for their faith, which is a Christian faith based on
the promise of Christ's return and the need for living Apostle's. The
church has a highly organized lay ministry; of with he has been given an
office.
To relax and get exercise, Dr. Lemke enjoys beating his friend Bryan in
Racquetball, but alas, it has not been happening often enough. He also
has found time to support his sons in their schoolwork and after school
activities, primarily as a tutor and rooting section leader. The
greatest relaxation he gets is traveling with just his wife, love, and
friend, Christina. |
